Introduction

Lansing Aviation is a private company providing services for student pilots. Lansing Aviation provides well-maintained aircraft that can be rented for private use or used for flight training. Lansing Aviation offers primary and intermediate flight instruction via independent flight instructors with airline or corporate backgrounds. Lansing Aviation will offer professional aviation consulting for corporate, airline, and individual aviation needs.


The Company

Lansing Aviation, LLC was legally established and is a Michigan Limited Liability Company. It is based in Lansing, Michigan. All company decisions and acquisitions of aircraft will be made by the principal investors and operators.

Lansing Aviation’s aircraft will be operated out of Capital City Airport, Lansing (LAN), Michigan. The office, records, scheduling, as well as the office for aircraft will all be located off-airport 15 miles north and Capital City Airport.


Services

Lansing Aviation is a provider of three services. They offer aircraft rental, flight instruction, as well as aviation consulting. In order to do so, Lansing Aviation will maintain a Cessna 172 Skyhawk updated with the latest avionics.

Our competitive differences include professionally maintained aircraft, renter/instructor insurance, and our 24-hour scheduling service that will allow greater flexibility of our aircraft flight times.

Lansing Aviation will continue to improve their aircraft rental business by purchasing high-performance single- and multi-engine aircraft that can be used for commercial and airline transport pilot training. Our plans include the creation of an online business website that allows us to keep up-to date with aircraft scheduling.


The Market

A shortage of airline pilots has led to a great demand for more pilot training. The old aircraft rental business in Lansing was forced to add additional aircraft due to the rising demand for pilot training. Mackinac-Great Lakes Airlines Systems is the largest employer in Lansing, with 19,000 employees, and we feel that these employees are aware of the excellent careers held by M-GLAS pilots. We hope this awareness will encourage interest in flying. Many M-GLAS pilots, as well as M-GLAS mechanics, fly small planes to have fun and transport their families to vacation destinations.

Capital City Airport is home to many unhappy students. Our instructors will take you on a flight in our Cessna 172 Skyhawk with your dissatisfaction and help you to generate new business.

Lansing Aviation will initially be targeting students who are interested in getting their private pilot certificate. These students will primarily come from word-of-mouth-advertising from our instructors, students, and other contacts at Mackinac-Great Lakes Airlines System (M-GLAS). After their private pilot package is completed, we will continue to help these students with their instrument ratings course.

1.1 Objectives

  1. You can create a Limited Liability Corporation (LLC), which protects your assets and personal property.
  2. Rent a Cessna 172 Skyhawk plane for flight instruction and rental.
  3. Operate the aircraft for at least 50 revenue flight hours per month.
  4. In order to achieve a net income/profit, aircraft revenue must exceed hangar and insurance costs, fuel, maintenance expenses, and loan expenses.

1.2 Keys to Success

  1. Students and renters will be able to plan their schedules better with a 24-hour schedule for aircraft.
  2. Advertising the aircraft to the 2,100 Mackinac Great Lakes Airlines System flight crew members, their families, friends and neighbors in Lansing will increase exposure, word-of-mouth advertising and result in more revenue.
  3. Preventive maintenance of aircraft to minimize aircraft downtime.
  4. Thorough and safe training of students and selective aircraft checkouts for rental customers to insure the aircraft is operated carefully, safely, and respectfully.

1.3 Mission

Lansing Aviation offers an affordable, professionally-maintained aircraft for rental and flight instruction. Our goal is to provide safe and effective learning opportunities for students, while adhering both to federal and state aviation regulations. Lansing Aviation will provide students with an excellent aircraft for flight training and an aircraft to fly upon successful completion of their training.
